Budgets Before Safety Concern

Mass Services Building Surveys and Audits

Recent reports suggest that new build projects and refurbishment proposals are facing more strident budget cutting due to the recession; having a detrimental impact on site-safety.

The report, prepared by Mactavish, suggests that; "Drastic reduction in health and safety budgets and rise in site managers' responsibilities could increase [the] number of injuries."

However, these claims have been refuted by various industry bodies, suggesting that it is not purely about budgets. An attitude to commit to best practice and industry standards is the key factor.

With greater visibility and punishment of non-compliant operators, recession or no, it is still crucial to all involved with the built environment to adhere to health and safety legislation and apply compliant policies and procedures to protect all stakeholders.
