After a routine inspection by Environmental Health officers, Blackpool Football Club has been fined £8,000 for failing to comply with an Improvement Notice.
In the first quarter of 2009, Environmental Health inspectors from Blackpool Council conducted their routine safety inspection at the club's Bloomfield Road stadium.
As a result of the inspection, it became apparent that the Club had failed to carry out a risk assessment or produce a written Health and Safety Policy to cover non-match day events, such as weddings and parties.
After this initial warning, the provision of support from both the Council and Health and Safety Executive, the Club was fined after failing to take any steps towards improving the situation by preparing the required documentation.
