The summer of 2010 has enjoyed (or endured if you’re an England fan) an incredible amount of International sport, made possible with the support of world-leading CAFM solution, ARCHIBUS.

World Cup Hat-Trick

Cape Town’s new Green Point Stadium not only hosted some of the 2010 World Cup’s most exciting games, it is also the latest example of a world-class sports complex deploying ARCHIBUS, a world-class technology, to manage their facility’s operations.

With the arena seating 56,000 people, Green Point Stadium faced the formidable challenge of managing and maintaining all aspects of the property’s operations to keep it in top condition for sports fans expecting a world-class experience. That’s why Green Point’s facilities managers selected ARCHIBUS to keep it running smoothly despite the operational stresses imposed by large and sometimes overly enthusiastic crowds.

With extensive equipment for back-up power, HVAC, electrical and electronic functionality, ARCHIBUS was the obvious choice. The ARCHIBUS applications deployed include: Overlay for AutoCAD® and Revit®, Space Management, Service Desk, On Demand Work and Preventive Maintenance.

In addition to the Football World Cup, The Championships, Wimbledon held by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTCC) and various International events hosted by Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Club have combined to provide a host of memorable sporting moments this summer- all supported by ARCHIBUS.

Serving Up Success at Wimbledon

The Estates team within the AELTCC who manage an annual influx of over 500,000 visitors for the Wimbledon fortnight, overseeing a vast range of buildings and grounds of differing ages, totalling 168,000m², and are in the process of gearing up for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The use of ARCHIBUS supports all services to the Club, from simple help requests to complex technical support. The solution also provides the team with maintenance support, and assistance with the designing and completing of in-house building projects.

Bowled Over Down Under

Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) further endorses the use of ARCHIBUS by utilising the CAFM solution to manage a range of year-round events which include tennis, cricket, golf, lawn bowling, target shooting, lacrosse, baseball, hockey and squash.

The scope of MCC’s activities required a system that could improve management of its extensive portfolio totalling over 197,200m² which can seat up to 100,000 visitors.

MCC chose to deploy ARCHIBUS applications including Real Property & Lease Management, Space Management, Condition Assessment and Building Operations Management to create an advanced Web-based system for collating and distributing asset information to better manage operations and improve financial controls.
