Just over twenty years ago, a bizarre concept turned into a reality and brought the world closer together: the internet. Many will argue that once the internet arrived, there was no stopping the chain reaction advances in technology.
As for technology, things have come a long way since the electronic calculator. The internet brought with it the PC and user friendly software. From this video conferencing and email. Broadband exploded and now it is uncommon for a household to be without an internet connection.
A famous gentleman once remarked that you would never need more than 2GB RAM. Advances in technology now mean that certain high end systems are now being sold with a terabyte of RAM as standard (for those geeks out there a terabyte translates to 1000 GB or a trillion bytes).
Things moved swiftly to mobile technology with mobile telephones leading the way. The bricks that were once carried in shoulder bags have been replaced with credit card sized portals that allow you to access your email whilst on the train and find a street map when your lost in the middle of the peak district (dependant on network coverage of course).
With that mobile technology was translated to business making processes and procedures quicker and more efficient. With staff being in constant contact with the office and other members staff communication has improved dramatically both internally as well as externally with clients.
In the very near future, who knows, we could be teleporting to a certain office via our handheld to sort out a business situation 3 seconds after the event has occurred.
