Mass dramatically claimed their first Pro Karting Victory last night as they romped home to glory in the highly acclaimed 150min Endurance Team Challenge Cup.
Team Archikart front-man, Michael Johnson, took the checkered flag on the teams 228th lap, completing a faultless Team drive and finishing some 4 laps in front of 2nd placed ‘Premier Position’.
There was an edgy nervousness to the start of the race (not least from the ashen Marshals) as FM Works' Skip Roberts returned to the circuit for the first time since the black flag incident during his last outing for the Team.
The already heightened pre-race tension reached boiling point during the warm-up, as Andrew Taylor lost a wheel during his flying lap, amongst calls of foul play and with most fingers pointing to eventual 4th placed ‘Matts Mobsters’.
With the race underway Team Archikart tussled for 1st place during the early stages, but as Luke Bolt took to his first stint, a series of pressured mistakes resulted in a time penalty for ‘Premier Position’ who entered the next driver change almost 3 laps in arrears.
As the race entered it’s closing stages Team Archikart started to look comfortable, but things almost took a turn for the worst when Dave Bolt was involved in a heavy impact with one of ‘Premier Positions’ drivers – finally stifling any lingering chance of a last ditch come back.
All that was left then was for Michael Johnson to bring the Team home.
